Road Condition Report (Last Plowed Sun, 10 Dec, 12:00pm. Last Updated Weds 13Dec 2017, at 7:55pm)

Highway-to-Shotgun Range

Truck sprung a radiator leak this morning. Will fix this week. Road is frozen, but may be very rough and rutty. 4x4 Trucks recommended.

Shotgun Range to Rifle Range

I expect this section to be same as above. Frozen and bumpy.

Plowing Colour Key:

Road is Open Use At your Own Risk - May not be advisable for some vehicles (snow, ice, low-hanging branches, etc) Road absolutely Closed - Do not use (to prevent damage to road, for example)

The lock has been repaired, and is back in service.

Doug reports that there may be an IPSC Black Badge course, if we get enough people signed up, October 14, 15, and 16. To register, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Range has again been the victim of a break-in.

The Gate Lock was broken, and the Shotgun Trailer was opened. No details available yet. Paul Nowlan, Doug Getty, and the RCMP are working on it.

In the meantime, we're trying hard to find volunteers to keep the club open during the evenings, leading up to moose season. Any member that can volunteer an evening, or a couple hours during this coming weekend, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The shift would entail picking up the temporary key from Adam in Douglastown, opening the Range at 4pm, Closing at 8pm, locking, and returning the key.

LATEST: Paul Nowlan is in touch with the locksmith. The Lock body seems untouched, but the hasp is broken. Might be a quicker fix (or may need a part).

UPDATED SCHEDULE:

Monday, 4pm-8pm: Chris N will be on duty

Tuesday, 4pm-8pm: Adam S

Wednesday, 4pm-8pm: Patrick H

Thursday, 4pm-8pm: Dan S

Friday and beyond: No volunteers yet. If the membership doesn't want it opened (ie no volunteers), then we may leave it closed.

The big take-away from this is: The Range MAY or MAY NOT be open at any time - depends on if any of our 180 members step up. Stay tuned to this page, or our Facebook page, for the latest (I'll try to keep Special Newsletters up to date as well).

Secretary

PS. If you happen to know who is doing this, let us know. We promise not to hurt him. Just want a name, to help in the investigation.

Please take note of the following:

1. Doug would like to thank Chris Nichols, Chris Guindon, Morrill Sisk, and Greg Stewart for showing up last Saturday and building 100 target stands for our Provincial Shoot, and a big thanks to Adam Sulis for creating fences for the same match.

2. Construction is progressing on three new range pits. These are NOT to be used yet (not finished, dangerous) - we'll let you know.

3. The Rifle Range will be closed between Sept 5 and Sept 12, as it will be used for the IPSC Provincial Championships.

4. We're looking for volunteers for the IPSC Provincial shoot, Sept 10 and Sept 11. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Doug at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
